Georgetown’s Epps earns Big East Player of the Week honors

One of the biggest factors in Georgetown’s 8-2 start is getting the recognition that he deserves.

Fresh off a 27-point performance against Syracuse, Hoya guard Jayden Epps was named the Big East Conference’s Player of the Week on Monday — Georgetown’s first honoree since 2019.

The junior shot 11-of-15 from the field on Saturday, including 4-of-6 from beyond the 3-point line. Epps’ 27 points, a career-high, led the way in Georgetown’s 75-71 win.

As of Monday, Epps is tied with Thomas Sorber for the team lead in scoring with an average of 15.5 points per game. He’s also the team’s leader in 3-pointers made with 24.

Epps currently ranks 11th in scoring across the Big East, though he wrapped up last season with the conference’s third-highest average.

The Hoyas return to the hardwood on Wednesday, hosting Creighton at Capital One Arena.
